My full name is…
Emma Jacobine Spannow.
But my friends call me…
Usually my friends just call me that - Emma.
I grew up…
In the countryside on a farm 1.5 hours south of Copenhagen. My parents still live there and I like to go visit them, the cats and the fields on the weekends.
The scent of home is…
A newly harvested wheat field and my boyfriend's cooking.
I feel most creative when…
I’m outside. And in the transition of season change.
I am inspired by…
So many things, my boyfriend, my family, my friends. And my little girl, Viviane - seeing the world through her curious new eyes is truly amazing.
My favourite weekends are spent…
With my new little family - it doesn’t really matter where we spent it, just that we’re together.
The most important lesson motherhood has taught me…
Though motherhood is still a fairly new thing to me, time really does fly and I already feel so much more experienced than I did 3 months ago having just given birth. The most important lesson motherhood has taught me so far is patience and believing in my connection to my daughter. Not that I'm a particularly impatient person at all, but the willingness to try again and again to learn and give the new little person a chance to learn and find comfort. Neither have I not believed in my connection with my daughter, but sometimes you just need to remember that this connection is truly all you need. Feel your gut and give your baby time to let it tell you what it needs. Being the mother to my little Vivi is my biggest dream coming true.
I care for myself…
When I spend time outside and when my boyfriend is giving me a foot massage.
Three words to describe me are…
Stubborn, caring, ambitious.
To relax…
I relax when looking at the ocean and find comfort in eating a great meal with my love!
My favourite childhood memory…
Playing outside on the farm all summer long.
My favourite flower…
My favourite flower has always been wild poppies that you could find on the fields during summer.
My favourite body part…
The eyes. They have become even more important these days, to communicate and connect with my little girl. I love looking into her eyes and seeing them become narrow and full of life with a big smile that wakes me up every morning. Besides the eyes I’m still absolutely amazed by what the female body is capable of.
This year I want to learn…
How to go for a run again.
I am moved by…
A parent's love for their children.
I feel womanly when…
When I gave birth to my daughter! Such a powerful and fragile moment. I think about it every day.
I am looking forward to…
Growing as a person, a mother and a family.
